What’s New

A customer-friendly timeline of new SocialNote capabilities, meaningful improvements, and resolved issues.

Preview update

Clearer reports and smoother everyday workflows

This update gives districts more relevant reporting language, adds practical invitation controls, keeps staff oriented in student and Goal workflows, and supports larger file uploads.

Improved

Reporting language now follows district context

Georgia districts continue to see Georgia-specific terminology and mapping details, while districts in other states now see state-neutral headings, descriptions, and column labels across referral, intervention, Case category, special population, and unduplicated student reports. Read the Reporting guide.

New

Pending invitations can be resent or canceled

Administrators can resend a pending user invitation to issue a fresh link with a new seven-day window, or cancel an invitation when it should no longer be used. Canceling preserves the administrative history and allows the email address to be invited again later. Read the User Management guide.

Fixed

Student referral navigation keeps its context

Opening a referral from a student’s profile now keeps the student workspace, sidebar, and back navigation in view, making it easier to review the referral and continue working with the same student. Read the Referrals guide.

Improved

Uploads support files up to 25 MB

SocialNote now accepts individual uploads up to 25 MB in the hosted application, giving staff more room for detailed PDFs and other supporting records.

Improved

Goal actions are easier to find

Log Progress, Edit Goal, and Delete Goal are now collected in the Goal page’s Quick Actions menu. Deleting a Goal also uses a clear title-confirmation step to help prevent accidental removal. Read the Goals guide.

Stronger access controls and more dependable daily work

This update makes deactivation effective across active access, repairs student-list paging, expands location choices, and restores background delivery for routine email notifications.

Improved

Account deactivation takes effect across active access

Deactivated users can no longer sign in, and deactivating a user or district now ends affected active sessions and invalidates remembered sign-in access. Administrators can continue to preserve account history by deactivating users instead of deleting them. Read the User Management guide.

Fixed

Student-list pagination works securely

Moving between pages of students now works correctly in the hosted application, including when search and filters are in use.

Improved

District of Columbia is available in state fields

District of Columbia is now included alongside all 50 states wherever SocialNote uses the shared state list.

Improved

Routine email delivery runs in the background

Consent messages, referral notifications, password resets, task reminders, user invitations, feedback submissions, and two-factor reset notifications now use SocialNote’s background delivery process.

Guide update

Georgia readiness and framework alignment, explained

Two new district-facing guides show how SocialNote’s connected documentation supports Georgia-oriented reporting review and how the service-code catalog relates to major state, multitiered, school social work, and counseling frameworks.

New

SocialNote for Georgia Districts guide

The guide connects Cases, service logs, referrals, groups, crises, macro-level efforts, and unduplicated student reporting to a practical Georgia readiness workflow. It also identifies the FY2025 technical-specification basis, records GaDOE’s confirmation that the school social work requirements were unchanged for FY2026, and transparently describes the dedicated GaDOE export’s current release status. Read the Georgia guide.

New

Framework Alignment guide

A new crosswalk guide explains how SocialNote service codes relate to Georgia reporting, Texas school mental health, MTSS, the National School Social Work Practice Model 2.0, and the ASCA National Model. It includes a worked service-code example and clearly distinguishes product alignment from certification or automatic compliance. Read the Framework Alignment guide.

More dependable student and crisis workflows

This update repairs student-profile shortcuts, keeps an optional student field from blocking records, and helps practitioners create more complete crisis documentation.

Fixed

Student quick actions open the right workflow

Log Crisis and Request Consent now open the correct workflow for the student whose profile you are viewing. The unavailable ROI shortcut has also been removed. Learn more in the Crisis guide and Consent guide.

Fixed

Optional primary language no longer blocks student records

Staff can now create or update a student without selecting a primary language. The field remains available when that information is known.

Improved

Crisis logs require meaningful details

New crisis logs now require an explicit crisis type, referral source, overall risk level, and outcome. This prevents untouched forms from creating blank or accidental crisis records.

Preview update

Optional Treatment Planning and stronger account security

This update adds a complete formal planning workflow inside Cases, expands planning history and reporting, and introduces two-factor authentication for stronger account access.

New

Optional Treatment Planning inside Cases

Practitioners can now add plan context, participants, service frequency, duration, Case Goals, establishment, reviews, closure outcomes, and a printable current-plan view when an episode of care calls for formal planning. Services-only Cases and Cases with Goals but no formal plan remain fully supported. Read the updated Cases guide.

New

Two-factor authentication

SocialNote now supports confirmed authenticator-app sign-in and recovery codes, and can require enrolled users to complete two-factor verification before continuing into the platform. Read the Two-Factor Authentication guide.

Improved

Treatment Planning history and reporting

Case timelines and protected reports now summarize relevant plan, Goal, progress, review, closure, and reopening activity. Review indicators are based on documented Case Reviews rather than plan edits alone.

Preview update

Service codes tailored to each district

This update lets districts shape the service-code catalog around local programs while preserving shared definitions, historical records, and consistent reporting.

New

Custom service-code categories and codes

District and organization administrators can now create district-specific categories and codes, search and filter the effective catalog, retire local definitions, and hide or restore individual system-default codes for their district. Unavailable codes remain attached to historical records but no longer appear in new-entry selectors. Read the Configuring Service Codes guide.

Improved

District-specific time zone setup

Each district can now be assigned its appropriate U.S. time zone during platform setup, supporting more accurate local date and time behavior across regions.

Preview fix

More dependable referrals and crisis navigation

This focused update removes a referral-submission blocker and keeps crisis records consistently tied to the student workflow.

Fixed

Optional referral fields no longer block submission

Internal referrals can now be submitted without choosing a special education or consent status. SocialNote safely applies the appropriate defaults when either optional field is left blank.

Fixed

Crisis records stay connected to the student

Creating, reviewing, editing, and printing crisis logs now consistently uses the student’s Crisis workspace, reducing the chance of broken or ambiguous navigation.

Preview update

Shareable reports, clearer onboarding, and new guidance

This update adds step-by-step crisis guidance, makes service-report results easier to share, gives SocialNote administrators more precise invitation choices, and keeps users oriented during consent work.

New

Step-by-step Crisis guide

A new guide explains how to document a crisis response, use crisis-type-specific assessments and safety-planning tools, record notifications, manage follow-up, and close the record with a complete worked example. Read the Crisis guide.

New

Export or print filtered service reports

Services by Type, Services by Student, Direct vs. Indirect Services, MTSS Tier Breakdown, and Time Tracking Summary can now be downloaded as CSV files or opened as print-ready reports. Both options preserve the filters currently on screen, and printed reports include the district logo when one is configured.

Improved

More flexible, preview-aware invitations

SocialNote administrators can now choose standard, district administrator, or organization administrator access when helping a district onboard users. Preview invitations also provide tailored email and account-setup guidance while production invitations retain the standard experience.

Fixed

Consent navigation stays in context

The Consents section now remains highlighted while users request consent or record consent manually from a student record.

Preview update

A safer, clearer preview experience

This update strengthens preview-data safeguards, makes account access more intentional, adds useful at-a-glance information, and resolves task and crisis-workflow issues.

New

Clear preview-environment safeguards

Preview workspaces now display a persistent reminder to use only synthetic or demonstration data. Invitations and account setup include the same guidance, and new users acknowledge it before joining a preview workspace.

Improved

Invitation-only account setup

New SocialNote accounts must now be invited by a district administrator. Public self-registration has been removed, making workspace access more intentional.

Improved

More useful at-a-glance summaries

Macro-Level Efforts now summarizes total efforts, effort types, hours, and participants reached. Student Family Contacts now includes a sibling count.

Fixed

Older task notes open correctly

Legacy task descriptions and completion notes are now handled correctly, restoring access to affected task-editing screens.

Fixed

Crisis navigation stays in context

The Crisis section now remains highlighted while users create and manage crisis logs from a student record.

Preview update

New

Improved
